WebOké Backups: restoring files

Every night, we make a complete backup of your hosting package: your files, databases, mailboxes and settings. These backups are stored encrypted on separate storage servers, away from the server your website runs on. With WebOke Backups, you can restore anything yourself from the backups of the last 30 days, free of charge and without having to ask us.

Opening WebOke Backups

Go to My Products and click WebOke Backups in the tab bar. At the top, you see how many hosting packages you have, how many restores you've done before and how many downloads are ready. The How it works button opens the explanation in the knowledge base.

The wizard

Below that is the wizard. You go through the steps with Next and Back. Start again lets you begin again.

  1. Account: choose the hosting package (1) and click Next (2).
  2. Moment: choose the moment you want to go back to. You see all backups with date, time and size, with the newest already selected. Here, you can also use Make a new backup now to create an extra backup straight away, for example just before a major change. You can do this a maximum of twice a day. With Upload, you restore from a backup file you downloaded here earlier.
  3. Blocks: tick what you want to restore. For example, files (everything or only certain folders and files), databases, mailboxes, DNS zones, SSL certificates, cron jobs, FTP accounts or your PHP version.
  4. Method: choose how you want to restore, see below.
  5. Confirm: you see a summary of your choices. If you choose full restore, you enter your password to confirm and choose whether we first make a safety backup of the current state.
  6. Execution: you see the progress. You can safely close the page, the restore will keep running.

The Moment step

If your package is brand new, there won't be a backup yet under Moment. The first one appears after the first night.

The four restore methods

MethodWhat happens?
Full restoreExactly the state of the chosen moment. Everything added or changed since then disappears.
Only restore what is missing or changedThe backup is restored, but files, mails and tables that are newer remain in place.
As a copy next to the current oneNothing changes to your current site, database or mailbox. The backup is added as a copy in a new folder, a database with a new name or a new mailbox.
DownloadNothing changes on the server. We package the chosen blocks as a file you can download for 48 hours.

Tip: not sure? Choose As a copy next to the current one. That way, you can first take your time to check whether it's the right version.

Previous restores, downloads and uploads

Below the wizard, you see your previous restores and the downloads and uploads that are ready. Downloads and uploads are automatically deleted after 48 hours.

You can find all the details, including frequently asked questions, in the knowledge base article WebOke Backups: viewing, restoring or downloading a backup.
