Domain health at a glance

Enter a domain name and see right away whether the basics are in order: registration, nameservers, A record, website, SSL, DNSSEC and DMARC. Green is fine, orange needs attention and red is a problem.

Any domain name will do, even if it is not with WebOké. You do not need to log in.

What do we check?

We look from the outside, just like a visitor or a mail server does. For your own domain, after logging in you also see the details from your account.

Registration
Whether the domain name is registered with the registry (for example SIDN for .nl). If it is not, nothing works: no website and no email.
Nameservers
Nameservers tell the rest of the internet where your domain's data is. If they are missing or do not answer, your domain cannot be found.
ns1 and ns2 in sync
At WebOké your domain is on two nameservers, ns1 and ns2. They must have exactly the same version of your DNS data, otherwise one visitor gets a different answer than another.
A record
The A record links your domain name to the IP address of the web server. If it is missing or points to the wrong server, your website does not load or you see an old version.
www
Many people type www in front of your domain name. For that to work, there must also be a record for www.
Website
We request the home page of your website. A code in the 200s or 300s is good. A 400 code means, for example, no access or not found; a 500 code is an error on the server.
SSL certificate
The SSL certificate provides the padlock and https. It must belong to your domain name, including www, and must not have expired. Otherwise visitors see a warning.
DNSSEC
DNSSEC signs your DNS data, so nobody can secretly send visitors to a different server. If the signature is not right, your domain does not work with providers that check it.
DMARC
DMARC tells mail servers what to do with email that falsely claims to come from your domain. It helps against phishing, and your own email gets delivered more reliably.
Status and expiry
The status at WebOké and until when the domain runs. If automatic renewal is off, the domain expires on the end date.
Quarantine
A cancelled or expired domain first goes into quarantine for a while. It no longer works then, but it can still be restored. After that, the name becomes available to everyone.
Owner verification
For many extensions the owner has to confirm their email address (an ICANN rule). If that does not happen in time, the registry suspends the domain.

We only use the domain name for this check. To prevent abuse, there is an hourly limit.
