Chapter 5 · 5.4
Conditional formatting
With conditional formatting, cells automatically get a colour when they meet a condition. This way, high or low amounts, expired dates or duplicate values stand out straight away.
Adding a rule
- Select the cells, for example the column with the number of users.
- On the Home tab, click Conditional formatting (1). This is what conditional formatting is called in Euro-Office.
- Choose a type of rule and fill in the value.

You can choose from, among others:
- Value is: greater than, less than, between, equal to;
- Top/Bottom and Medium: the highest or lowest values, or everything above or below the average;
- Text and Date: for example everything with a certain word, or everything from last month;
- Blank/Error: empty cells or cells with an error value;
- Duplicate/Unique: highlight duplicate or unique values;
- Data Bars, Color scales and Icon sets: a bar, a colour or an arrow that shows the size of the value.

Adjusting or removing rules
Choose Manage rules from the menu. You'll see all the rules for the selection or the whole worksheet, and you can adjust them, change their order or delete them. Use New rule and then Formula to create your own condition, for example colouring an entire row if the package is "Nextcloud Max": =$C2="Nextcloud Max". A worked-out example is available in Een hele rij kleuren als de factuur betaald is. Use Clear rules to remove all rules at once.
